Meet the Staff


Dana Johnson

Athletic Director
Certified Personal Trainer   

Dana is the Athletic Director at the Athletic Club of Columbus. He is a Certified Personal Trainer through the American Council on Exercise and the National Federation of Personal Trainers, and has more than 15 years of experience in the health and fitness industry. He is also CPR, first aid, and ECC certified through the American Heart Association. Dana learned from the best; he developed a passion for fitness while playing football as a scholarship athlete at Bowling Green State University.

Dana has trained clients ranging from young athletes to seniors recovering from heart conditions. Dana enjoys working with and helping people achieve their fitness goals. Dana is a member of the National Football Foundation as well as the North American Club Athletic Directors professional groups.

Michele DeVault

Group Fitness Coordinator  

Outgoing and driven, Michele enjoys working alongside others to reach a common goal. She has a strong background in fitness and has been involved in athletics for over ten years. Most recently, working for a Pilates Studio in Dallas, TX, as the Director of Operations as well as teaching classes and training. Michele oversaw all aspects of the studio’s management, individual training programs for clients and community involvement. Before that, she was an Assistant Women’s Basketball coach at the collegiate level at Wofford College, in Spartanburg, SC.  There she was in charge of Player Development training, recruiting, and the team’s academics. She also has professional experience playing basketball internationally.  Michele gained invaluable experience to become a successful athlete both on and off the court while playing collegiate basketball at East Tennessee State University for four years.  She enjoys being a part of seeing others work hard towards their fitness goals.

Reggie Henderson

Aquatic Director

Reggie is the Aquatic Director at the Athletic Club of Columbus. He is a Waterfront Safety Instructor, Certified Lifeguard, Certified Pool Operator, and a Certified Emergency Medical Technician. He has been in the health and fitness industry for over 8 years, and brings drive and excitement to the ACC aquatics program.

Reggie’s specialties are in private swim lessons, group lessons, and stroke refinement. He believes that swimming is important in improving your overall health.

Audrae Hughes, MPH

Certified Personal Trainer

Audrae is a Certified Personal Trainer and Group Exercise Specialist with over 12 years of training and teaching experience in the fitness industry.   Her interest in biomechanics and fascination with the psychology of health behavior choice has made training one of her passions.  She earned a Master’s degree specializing in Health Behavior/Health Promotion from The Ohio State University and a Bachelor’s Degree in Biomedical Anthropology, also from OSU.  She holds her PT credentials through the American Council on Exercise, and is CPR, first aid, and ECC certified.  Within her training, Audrae includes a variety of approaches and assessments such as  Functional Movement Screening (FMS), Postural Analysis, and Corrective Exercises for those wanting to address movement integrity and muscle imbalances, VO2max and Resting Metabolic Rate testing for the extremely serious about athletic performance and/or diet, and other  training styles and programs depending on the needs of the individual or group.  She places a big emphasis on client enjoyment, motivation and safety.  In short, she loves to educate and inspire anyone who wants to improve, regardless of fitness level or skill.

Nick Bucci

Certified Personal Trainer

Nick joined the staff of the ACC in the fall of 2011. Nick holds a B.A. in Psychology with a Minor in Coaching and leadership that he attained in 2008 from Capital University. Nick also earned an Associate’s Degree in Exercise Science from Columbus State in the summer of 2014.


While at Capital, Nick was a 3 year letter winner for the football team, accumulating Two All-conference and All-region awards. After graduating, he coached Football and Lacrosse for 4 years at Westerville South High School. Nick then joined the staff of the Bexley HS football team where he held the positions of Defensive Coordinator and the Strength and Conditioning coach for 3 seasons.


 Nick is a Certified Personal Trainer through the National Strength and Conditioning Association (CPT - NSCA). He has worked with all skill levels, and loves training individuals who have distinct goals, and with the right encouragement, are willing to put in the work to reach them. He believes that reaching these goals requires hard work and a little bit of sweat, but in the end, accomplishing them makes it worth the effort. 

Jake Kuhn

Certified Personal Trainer

Jake graduated from Ohio Dominican University in 2010 with a Bachelor’s of Arts Degree in History.  He has experience working as a Graduate Assistant and D-line Coach at Ohio Dominican University during their undefeated season in 2013.  He also has 4 years of experience coaching high school football, having many of his players attain Div.1 scholarships and All-State honors.

Jake also played college football at Ohio Dominican where he was a senior captain, four year letter winner, National Football Foundation Hampshire Honor Society Member and Scholar Athlete, while receiving All Conference and Scholastic awards.

With many years of traditional and conventional training experience in sports performance, as a player and coach, Jake is currently certified by The Onnit Academy in Foundations and Durability Training, as well as an Onnit Academy Kettlebell Specialist.  Due to his own challenges, including weight loss of 80lbs and recovery from neck, nerve and shoulder injuries, he has a unique perspective and philosophy to bring to personal training.  Jake is a firm believer that movement and the ability to work is a human’s birthright and all should have access to physical and mental fitness.

Erin Fausett

Certified Personal Trainer

Erin is a Certified Personal Trainer through the American Council on Exercise. She is also a Group Fitness Instructor that enjoys teaching high intensity, motivating classes here at the ACC. Erin completed her degree in Exercise Science at CSCC, she is also currently continuing her education in Exercise Science at Capital University. Erin is a seasoned runner with over 14 years of experience. She has run distances ranging from a 5K to a full marathon. She understands the mental barriers and successes that accompany the lifelong wellness journey.            

Erin’s background and specialty training is “hybrid athletics” combining cardiovascular training, body building, and exercises that build balance and flexibility. She believes in keeping a positive, inclusive and motivating environment for people to perform at their best. She also has experience in periodization programming and VO2 testing for the serious athlete. 

Karie Smith

Certified Personal Trainer

Karie feels it is an honor and unique privilege to be a part of the ACC staff, because The ACC holds a special place, in her heart. She grew up, immersed in the ACC community, thanks to her parents, John and Susie Hansel, as well as her grandparents, John and Judy Hansel. She is a proud graduate of The Ohio State University, with a B.A. in Sociology with a focus in Psychology, Public Health and Development. She is certified, as a Personal Trainer, through the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA). Her education has been part of a larger endeavor towards a career, in Wellness and Public Health.

As a personal trainer, her desire is to go beyond the traditional notion of fitness and use an interdisciplinary approach to address the person as a synergistic whole. Consequently, she challenges her clients to take back their own health and the responsibility for it. Her personal belief is that wellness is a journey, not a destination. As such, her passion is helping individuals embrace their whole health and start on a journey of self-discovery and growth. She approaches her personal fitness, as a lifestyle, and allows the activities about which she is passionate to further inform the way that she trains her clients. She also loves running, salsa dancing, practicing yoga, and traveling.

Abigail Bjornard

Pilates Instructor

Abigail is a certified Pilates Instructor.  Her Mat and Reformer training and certification is through Pendleton Pilates.  Her Cadillac and Chair certification is through Troy McCarty of White Cloud Studios.  With workshops, including one with Lolita San Miguel (a first generation student of Joseph Pilates), Abigail is continually learning and growing her own abilities to present the deepest level of knowledge to those she teaches.  Abigail also has a B.A. in Political Science from the University of Washington in Seattle where she grew up.

Abigail’s belief is that Pilates can benefit everyone.  Whether just starting on your healthy journey, recovering from an injury, or if you’ve been a fitness buff for years, Pilates can challenge and benefit anyone. 

Brian Johnson

Athletic Staff Team Member

As a member of the Athletic staff, Brian is able to bring his passion for fitness to others. From the minute he walks in the door to the minute he leaves, he is engaged with members and working to educate them on all the ACC has to offer. Brian loves connecting with members, finding what motivates them, and getting them involved in activities that fit their needs.
