Group Fitness

The Athletic Club of Columbus offers an extensive schedule of group fitness classes each week. The class descriptions currently offered through group fitness programming are outlined below.

Spinning Studio, 3rd Floor and Group Fitness Studio, 6th Floor

Start with an intense 30 minute sculpt routine in the 6th Floor Studio and finish with 30 minutes of spinning. Two workouts in one to save time and get results.

AQUA TONE

Pool, 4th Floor

An upgrade from traditional water aerobics; focus on one or more exercises that will tighten the core and provide a cardio workout. Class includes boxing, water aerobics, aqua belts, and swimming components.

BALANCE

6th Floor Studio

A yoga inspired stretch and strength class designed to achieve body symmetry and muscular balance. Movement combines the whole of the body with emphasis on core strength, isolating body quadrants & planes equally. Beneficial to athletes, rehabbing injured (with doctor' approval), and fitness enthusiasts. Newbies welcome!

BARRE

6th Floor Studio

Barre is an upbeat exercise workout that integrates interval training with muscle-shaping isometrics to quickly and safely reshape your entire body. This low-impact workout combines the grace of the ballet bar with the wisdom of yoga and the strength of Pilates. The class also incorporates stretching segments after each strengthening series, lengthening your body and increasing flexibility while you tone.  CARDIO ABS

6th Floor Studio

Get ready to feel the burn! Class starts with a quick full body warm up to kickstart your core and 30 full minutes of ABS!

MASTER SWIM

Pool, 4th Floor

Taught by a certified swim coach to get the most effective workout while improving stroke volume. Learn stroke improvement techniques and get a great cardiovascular workout in a group environment. Must be able to complete 15 lengths of the pool using freestyle without stopping. Ages 18 and up.

MAT PILATES

6th Floor Studio

Pilates mat classes are the floor work version of the Pilates method. Focus is placed on precise movements originating from the center, or core, of your body. Working from the deepest layers of muscles, which stabilize and support your spine and pelvis, resulting in a strong, flexible spine with ideal posture and alignment.

MOVEMENT AND MEDITATION

6th Floor Studio

The modern day medicine for the ‘busyness’ of the world. Side effects include, happiness, clarity, greater peace, centering, gratitude, and a deeper connection to everything and everyone. Allow a myriad of good things to transfer over to your every day living.

RIDE IN 45

Spinning Studio, 3rd Floor

A cardio workout on a stationary bike based on cycling principles. Classes are technique based and/or real terrain based and focus on cadence, heart-rate zones, climbs & sprints that can make an unpredictable ride that is fun and challenging.

TOTAL STRENGTH

6th Floor Studio

Are you looking to add strength training to your workout routine? Total Strength is a great way to achieve overall strength and muscle tone. This class features high-energy total body strength training techniques aimed at building lean muscle and blasting fat. The class utilizes premium fitness equipment (barbells, dumbbells, TRX, exercise bands, etc.) as well as body weight and plyometrics for an all-over high-intensity workout. Challenging for all fitness and experience levels.

YOGA

6th Floor Studio

ASHTANGA MODIFIED: The Ashtanga yoga system is designed to purify the body, promote the proper functioning of the digestive system, build strength, and restore range of motion to the body. Ashtanga practice relies on linking postures with deep, even breathing and steady gazing with the eyes to encourage blood circulation and ridding the body of unwanted toxins. Steady your mind; steady your body.

VINYASA & YOGA FLOW: Like all styles of yoga, Vinyasa has both mental and physical benefits. Physically, sweat expels toxins and reenergizes your body. Mentally, the synchronized breathing relaxes your mind and helps release any blockage of energy flow throughout your body.

POWER FLOW: A fast paced heated yoga with an advanced ring to it. This class is no joke - strong Vinyasa flow utilizing upbeat music to intensify your workout, you will be taken through a sequence of advanced postures, arm balances and standing poses. Previous experience recommended.

SMALL GROUP TRAINING:

GOLF STRETCH: Class starts with a gentle yet dynamic warm up, core strengthening and flexibility movements to enhance torso rotation and hip mobility. This 30-minute class for beginners includes elements of yoga, Pilates and Tai Chi. *Reservations required 24 hours in advance, additional member charge.

TRX: Be prepared for anything in this dynamic TRX class that will strengthen, build and define muscle while burning fat. You can always count on a total-body approach, some metabolic conditioning, and ability to modify exercises. *Reservations required 24 hours in advance, additional member charge.

BURN:  If your desire is to improve your fitness or to take your training to the next level, this small-group workout is for you. Working with a Certified Personal Trainer, you'll build lean muscle mass, push your aerobic capacity, build stamina, boost your metabolism, and enhance fat burning. Each workout includes total-body circuit training composed of resistance and body-weight training, cardio, plyometrics, and ab work. Outside of the scheduled BURN classes, participants will also receive additional fitness and nutritional consulting for a complete program week after week. *Reservations required, additional member charge.
